We chat to Helena Cuesta on vintage finds & era style inspiration
What are three words to describe your style?
Very 70’s hippie chic mixed with frenchy style.
Who is your style muse?
Cher! I love her, especially in the 70s.
Where do you live? Do you find your style is reflective of your surroundings?
I live in Madrid. I love my city and my neighbourhood in Latina with all the antiques shops around.
Where do you go to find outfit inspiration?
I look to films, especially the 70s, like Bertolucci films and also in the 70s rock star's wife’s.
Where is your favourite place for vintage shopping?
My favourite place for vintage are the vintage markets and antiques shops in El Rastro de Madrid, because I live super close and I go every Sunday! Its the perfect morning.
Have you splurged on any dreamy vintage items? If so, what?
Not really, I always go for the cheapest and I love to haggling. But the one expensive accessory I do have is a Fendi bag I found on Ebay! It’s a baguette bag in denim with embroidered flowers, super cute!
Do you have any tips for integrating vintage finds with new buys?
I think the secret is in the mix. Mix a good pair of shoes with a vintage tee or a vintage jeans.
What is one accessory that you cannot leave the house without?
My favourite ring.
What is your most treasured piece of jewellery?
Again, my favourite gold ring! It’s a tiger head made with blue topaz and a mini pearl in the mouth that Gucci gifted to me so I cannot take it off!
What is one beauty item that you cannot live without?
Sunglasses, I love sunglasses. Definitely my favourite accessory.
