What does a typical day look like for you?
I love to start my day with a cup of ginger tea and a 20-minute meditation. If the swell is good, I will take my dogs to the beach and go for a wave with my man George. Our two Bali rescue dogs wait patiently for us on the beach until we’re finished our surf. It’s my favourite start to the morning!
Throughout the day I will run my usual errands, check in with the team at the slow and spend a good part of my day responding to emails and so on – just the usual! Every evening we take our pooches for another walk and try to catch the sunset. I love to cook, so dinner is usually a healthy home made meal or sharing a good vino and some good food out with friends.
How would you describe your own personal style?
Since my move to Bali, my style has changed to dress for comfort. For day wear, I love a good pair of cut of shorts and vintage tee and for evening, you will catch me in a little silk dress or blouse with high waist jeans – simple is best!
What is your most treasured vintage item?
An embroidered shirt that George bought me as a gift from a vintage market when we first started dating. Inevitably, it has a special place in my heart.
Surfing is a huge part of your life, what do you love about riding a wave?
I love the rush and the happiness you feel in every inch of your body when you catch a great wave. Plus, It feels amazing to spend time in the ocean - it washes away any worries I may have and brings me back to nature.
What is something you are really passionate about?
Surfing, music and cooking. I also love to attend women’s circles, I think it’s important to stay connected and check in with each other. I actively try to engage in activities with friends that are not connected with going out and drinking all the time.
Where do you call home?
As they say, home is where the heart is. At the moment that’s Bali.
What music are you listening to at the moment?
I actually just came back from Europe and I think I listened to the song ‘thinking of a place’ by War on Drugs about 300 times! George says I have mastered the art of killing a song Haha. I also love ‘Reverberation Radio’, it’s a radio station formed by the band ‘ALLAH-LAS’. We flew the boys out to play some gigs and it was absolutely epic!
Tell us about your new project with your husband George, the slow?
George and I bought the land the slow stands a few years back to build our perfect dream island home. My dad is an architect, so we planned out the house with him for about a year. At the time we were living in NYC and once we decided it was time to move back to Bali, we realised that the street in which our land was on, was smack bang in the middle of all the hustle & bustle. It took me a minute to get over it, but we than decided to turn our dream island home into an island stay and that’s pretty much it!
Wholesome living is a big part of your life, what are your daily rituals to staying grounded?
Some sort of daily movement and self care, which can vary depending on how much time I have. My dogs keep me up and about, I love walking them once or twice per day and surfing is a great passion of mine. The ocean and my daily meditation bring me clarity and keep me grounded.
