A day in the life of Creative Director Melodi Meadows

Melodi Medows is an artist, stylist, photographer, our dream muse and an inspiring creative. 

Melodis' days are ever changing and here she takes Stevie May through her inspirations for starting a creative project and some other things we just had to know. 

What does a typical day look like for you? 

Most days are different for me but an ideal day starts with a cup a coffee and morning read. I have a lovely garage studio that I use for painting, and try to get as much time in there as I can. I’m constantly working on my personal projects, which mean a lot of time spent in my sketch book and photography books.  

Where did you grow up? 
Texas 
What has been one of your favourite projects to work on? 
Confused Dreams, It a personal book project that I’m in the middle of right now. It’s all about displacement of reality and our perception through dreams.  I’m designing the wardrobe, shooting and producing all myself. A true passion project to say the least. 

What is it about fashion and expression that you love? Do you think fashion creates a character in the wearer? 
Fashion gives you the ability to be any character you want. Sometimes we all need a break from our selves or a little extra confidence walking into a room. Fashion can transform us into our wildest dream and teach us that everything we want is already inside us. 

 

 You work closely with your husband @basementfox who is also a creative, tell us about him. What drew you too together? Do you find each other a source of inspiration? 

Yes, Asher Moss is an amazing creative and husband! He is a fashion photographer and musician from Nashville. We actually met on a photoshoot in Austin, TX and fell in love at first sight only to get married a year later. We are each other’s constant source of inspiration, I couldn’t have imagined I would be so lucky to have a husband that shares the same vision as me and that I can create so much magic with.

As an artist, what mediums do you like to use? Do you find this changes quite frequently?

I move through different mediums all the times, sketches, painting, photography, etc. Sometimes it takes all three to bring an idea full circle. 

What words to do you live by? 

Do everything with conviction and break all the rules. 

 

You have a very cute dog named Harvard, is he a good boy? 

Yes, Harvard is the best! I actually found him on the side of the highway, he was a scruffy road dog that I knew I couldn’t give up from the moment I saw him. 

 

What are your plans for the future? 

I’m traveling to Croatia in a few weeks to soak up some sun and shoot. Hoping to find some new inspiration from a foreign place that I can put into my Confused Dreams series.
